The Flower Shop
The pop up show includes 12 mixed media paintings, a culmination of this year’s work from Wood, and his first showing in New York in an official capacity.
Beauty doesn’t last forever. But we’ll still try. An exploration of our relationship to beauty, its forbidden reality, and how our memories often become crystallized and falsified with time. Through the Flower Shop, Wood urges his viewers to turn toward all forms of beauty, whether it be a flower and its fruit, a laugh or something else, and continue to create new forms of it, as old forms inevitably die. Thus, creating the evolving fruit of our labor – eternal beauty
The Artist
Cameron Wood is an abstract painter whose work focuses on combining color and shape to make unified compositions. With a background in writing and illustration, his work often comes together to form a story in an unexpected way. Taking monotonous things such as flowers or food, he creates an abstract semblance while finding an outside narrative that leaves the viewer thinking about more than just the paintings themselves.
Born in Detroit, Michigan and currently based in Brooklyn, NY, Wood earned his BFA from College for Creative Studies. His work has been shared in numerous group shows, and he is now creating larger bodies of work to be shown alone.
