The color red, in eastern teachings, is associated with security, safety, feeling grounded and being courageous. In the intensity of this world, all of that feels lacking. But the world fades away when it’s just me and the painting in front of me. I feel safe when I’m with my paintings. And it’s because of this, I’ve learned, that I gravitate so much to red when I'm creating.
This painting represents my strong sense the security, courage and peace that I find deep within myself. And I believe that in passing these feelings on into my paintings, I'm not just making art. I'm also creating even just the smallest sense of security and ease for you, too, when you hang it in a room you need to feel safest in.
It's that feeling when you look at a painting and feel like you can exhale for the first time all day.
